Experimental changes

urrently I am implementing a few experimental changes, since I am curious what the impact on the site reasonexperts.com is going to be after these changes are live. First of all, lets look at the original concept.

The page of reasonexperts.com consists of a few blocks. Namely the following:
- picture slider containing the last posted articles
- login box (recently moved to the top of the page)
- last tutorials
- latest articles (for different sections)
- sitemap

In the new setup, I would like to provide less articles then the previous setup. Since I personally have a feeling the front page is flooded with a lot of information and articles. And a lot of people that currently visit the frontpage barely look at the other topics that have been posted (compared to the last 3 tutorials posted).

Just to name a few of the top read articles of today:
Setting up an orchestra arrangement inside propellerhead Reason 4
Tutorial How to create Trance inside Propellerhead Reason
Reason 6 Tutorial Stereo Reason 101 basics

I have noticed that the stereo article scores best from the last 3 articles. The other 2 don't come as a surprise to me (since those articles were pretty hot during the time I was running the sound of reason, which was also one of the main reasons I reposted these articles asap).

However, when you would look down the line of the frontpage, the other articles do not get that much attention. Sure, the news topic about reason 6.02 was pretty hot for the first 2 weeks. After that, it kind of worn out pretty fast (makes sense).

So this leaves me with the conclusion that alot of people don't seem to scroll down as much (which also makes sense). Therefor, I am removing the latest articles section (also known as reason resources). And pluging in between a segment that supports the opening text for the website. One may think that this would not have any impact on the height of the page itself. But in fact it does. The page is now shorter in height, and presents lesser content driven parts relating towards articles.

The reason why I am trying to do this experiment is to see if it would have any impact on the read articles as of this day. And second I would like to see the impact on the content and how this would change the overal scope on the complete website through the eyes of google itself. Most of the visitors are coming from google. So experimenting with this part makes total sense for me right now.

Ps, I fixed an issue so you can login from the frontpage of reasonexperts.com
Who cares... right?
